Nature Tours
"Three Hour Cruise"
Relax as we travel out the Ogeechee River to
the Intracoastal Waterway and Ossabaw
Sound. Explore the magnificent marshes as
we wind through them via saltwater creeks
teeming with life . We'll see a variety of
periwinkle snails, brown fiddler crabs,
stingrays, dolphins and seabirds. Have
your camera ready for photo-ops. We'll cruise
the same waters as the Guale Indians, Spanish
missionaries, explorers, colonists, patriots,
slaves and settlers. Learn about the wildlife,
ecology and history that makes this coast so
special.
Island Cruise
Over the course of the day on the water, you'll experience the wonders of
Coastal Georgia's tides. Low tide brings out more shore birds foraging
for food along the mudflats. Enjoy
the journey out to Ossabaw Sound,
past Raccoon Key, through the in-
famous 'Hell Gate' to Wassaw Island.
Camera buffs will delight in the variety
of birds along the marshes.
Cormorants, pelicans and a variety
of gulls often accompany us on our
cruise. If the dolphin are agreeable,
we'll listen to their chatter with our
hydrophone. Peach will offer amazing information about these wonderful
animals. On beautiful Wassaw beach enjoy a picnic lunch customized just for you. Tour the south end of the island and collect some seashell treasures. Learn about the creatures that live within the sand and the surf. Drag a seine net for variety of marine life. Learn the skill of throwing a cast net. On our return to the Ogeechee RIver, we'll pull a crab trap and explain the life cycle of the blue crab. We'll pass historical Fort McAllister and imagine ourselves as a Yankee ironclad under fire from the earthen fort's cannons.
Lunch is included in the price of this tour. Time: 5+ hrs

1880’s hunting lodge. After a brief restroom
break Jim will give an informative and entertaining
