Burials at sea have traditionally been accepted for thousands of years and at present many people are choosing this alternative over land burials
SaltyDawg offers burials at sea for cremated ashes. Your Captain and crew will conduct a dignified memorial service at sea approximately three nautical miles from shore. Services aboard the SaltyDawg can accommodate 1 to 6 guests or may be unattended. You may choose the time of day for the service: morning, afternoon or evening sunset.
If you are unable to attend the service, the Captain and crew will conduct a respectful ash scattering following your directives. You may participate via cell phone. Digital photographs of the service can be provided to confirm the event.
A commemorative certificate will be provided to loved ones which will include the deceased name, date of birth and death, date of burial at sea and the longitude and latitude of the ash scattering.
Burials at sea can be presided over by the Captain of the ship or by a religious representative of the deceased. Legal regulations must be followed concerning burials at sea. You may bring flowers and wreaths to to leave at the site as long as they are decomposable in water. SaltyDawg can provide flowers at an additional charge.
We suggest that if you are choosing burial at sea for yourself, that you make your choice known to your family and include your wishes in your will. The funeral director will make all funeral preparations, purchase the biodegradable urn, clear all paperwork with the local and state officials, notify SaltyDawg of the impending event to inter your body at sea and make any logistical arrangements to transport your remains to the Captain.
